Yanlin LIAO is an Associate Professor at the School of Philosophy and Social Development, South China Normal University. He earned his Ph.D. in Philosophy from Nanjing University in 2020 and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Sun Yat-sen University in 2023. From 2018 to 2019, he was a visiting Ph.D. student at the Centre for Research in Reasoning, Argumentation, and Rhetoric (CRRAR) at the University of Windsor, under the supervision of Prof. Douglas Walton and Prof. Hans Hansen. His research focuses on Informal Logic, Argumentation Theory, and Critical Thinking, with a particular emphasis on argument schemes and virtue argumentation theories. Dr. Liao has published extensively in both Chinese and English, with his English work appearing in international journals such as Informal Logic, Argumentation, and Topoi. He has received Honourable Mention in the AILACT Essay Prize twice, in 2022 and 2023.
